Gli Emmy Awards 2023, diventati, a causa degli scioperi, gli Emmy 2024, hanno visto trionfare tre serie TV. Con sei statuette ciascuna, “Succession”, incentrata sul mogul dell’editoria, e la serie culinaria “The Bear” sono le più premiate, seguite dalla miniserie “Beef” che ha conquistato cinque premi. La cerimonia, celebrata nella giornata di Martin Luther King e dedicata al 75º anniversario del premio, ha regalato momenti storici, come la vittoria di Quinta Brunson, attrice e autrice di “Abbot Elementary”, che ha vinto il premio come miglior attrice protagonista in una serie commedia 42 anni dopo Isabel Sanford per “I Jefferson”.
L’edizione è stata particolare anche per l’Italia, con due candidate italiane: Sabrina Impacciatore e Simona Tabasco, nominate come attrici non protagoniste per la stagione siciliana della serie HBO “The White Lotus”. Anche se il premio è andato a Jennifer Coolidge, le due attrici italiane hanno fatto la storia del premio con questa candidatura.
