Nomadland trionfa agli Spirit Awards 2021

Da non perdere

A pochi giorni dagli Oscar, questa notte si è svolta la 36sima cerimonia dei “Film Independent Spirit Awards”, i premi cinematografici creati nel 1984 per celebrare il cinema indipendente.

Sin dalla sua nascita, in controtendenza al glamour degli Academy, l’evento si è sempre svolto in una mega tenda montata in un parcheggio di Santa Monica Beach, in California.

Quest’anno, causa pandemia, come altre precedenti cerimonie, l’organizzazione ha invece deciso di spostarsi online, eliminando il momento red carpet e lasciando la conduzione a Melissa Villaseñor, comica di Saturday Night Live, che come ha ironicamente dichiarato in diretta : “da un posto molto più familiare al cinema indipendente: un teatro vuoto”

Tra i vari film vincitori, tutti con budget di produzione sotto i 22 milioni di dollari, ha nuovamente trionfato Nomadland, grande favorito anche agli Academy Awards, aggiudicandosi il premio come Miglior Film, Miglior Regia per la regista Chloé Zhao, Miglior Montaggio e Miglior fotografia.

Premiato anche con il discusso Promising Young Woman, che riceve il premio per Miglior Sceneggiatura assegnato a Emerald Fennell e Miglior Attrice protagonista per l’interpretazione dark di Carey Mulligan.

Per la prima volta, inoltre, sono state incluse anche categorie televisive, a cui ormai è impossibile non dare spazio, data l’evoluzione del settore cinematografico e dove finalmente ha avuto la sua rivincita lo snobbato I May Destroy You di Michaela Coel. Come Miglior Attore e Attrice trionfano invece i due protagonisti di Unorthodox, la miniserie di grande successo prodotta da Netflix e ispirata alla vera storia di una ragazza che scappa da una comunità ebraica ultra conservatrice.
